My decision to switch to VOIPO became a bit more complicated by the fact that I had decided to move out of state and wanted to keep my current phone number. I did not want to port my number over to VOIPO and then if I did not like the service, have to port it again. A very pleasant phone call to VOIPO assured me that I could have them assign me a number, and if I liked the service, I could port my current number over to my service. Any other questions that I asked at that time were answered to my satisfaction and I ordered the service.
The unit arrived in a few days as promised, and I had the service up and running quickly.
The package included instructions for going on line and setting up your 911 emergency information and stressed the importance of doing that first. With the basic service hooked up and running in minutes, we used the service for about a week and decided to keep it.
During this time, we also had our main number in use, so the VOIPO line was not used 100% of the time, but performed fine when it was used. We decide to port our number!
Here is where things got a little hairy. We ran into problems with the port and went back and forth with the cable company and VOIPO. Two days before the move, the number was between ports and VOIPO says the number is from an area code that they can’t port from.
The cable service was already given a termination date, and our number was in danger of going out into the telesphere! The Calvary arrived in the form of a cellphone company. We had a phone from tracphone and a few well placed phone calls to them and our number was snatched from the spirit world and assigned to an earthly unit. Number saved, decision on VOIPO undecided………
Upon arrival at me new destination, we immediately had the local cable company hook up the internet. (There are some things that you have to have). The internet was hooked up on a Friday and on Saturday I installed the VOIPO unit. Let me say things did not go well. The phone was not working properly and much time was spent on the Tracphone calling customer support to resolve the issue. I was ready to throw in the towel on VOIPO.
As it turned out, we were told the problem was with our new cable company and we called the cable tech support number. Surprise, we were directed to an overseas tech support that insisted we did not have internet with them only cable and phone service. A little internet research and we found a local number for support and had the cable company out that day, to correct their problem. Another call to VOIPO to reset the IP address of their unit and we had phone service.
Since then, the phone service seems pretty good. I hear some complaints, like an occasional (not often) short period of silence after dialing before a ring is heard. Sometimes after dialing a rapid busy signal, but for the most part you can expect a clear dependable connection, very good tech support. I also think that most of the calls that were not 100% were to cell phones to family members that were in their cars, and it might be a problem on their end.
In conclusion, I probably would have given VOIPO the highest rating if it wasn’t for the Porting problem (their fault) and the IP address problem(cable company’s fault). No matter the reason for the fault, it was stressing at the time. Overall, though, I believe you could save a significant amount of money and cut your cable bill, by finding another provider for phone service. I would suggest you give VOIPO a try.

Series Is from Award-winning Creator of “Luther,” Neil Cross, and Acclaimed Film Producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald (“Gladiator,” “Men in Black,” “The Ring”)
NEW YORK CITY — May 14, 2012 — From the award-winning creator of “Luther,” Neil Cross, and successful producing team of Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald (“Gladiator,” “Men in Black,” “The Ring”) comes an extraordinary action-adventure series “Crossbones” — with an unexpected moral center where one can’t be sure whether the pirates or the British crown are the villains.
Ten episodes of “Crossbones” have been ordered and production will begin in the fall.
The announcement was made today by Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment.
It’s 1715 on the Bahamian island of New Providence, the first functioning democracy in the Americas, where the diabolical pirate Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard, reigns over a rogue nation of thieves, outlaws and miscreant sailors. Part shantytown, part marauder’s paradise, this is a place like no other on earth – and a mounting threat to international commerce.
To gain control of this fearsome society, Tom Lowe, a highly skilled undercover assassin, is sent to the pirates’ haven to take down the brilliant and charismatic Blackbeard. But The Closer Lowe gets, the more he finds that his quest is not so simple. Lowe can’t help but admire the political ideals of Blackbeard, whose thirst for knowledge knows no bounds – and no law. But Lowe is not the only danger to Blackbeard’s rule. He is a man with many villainous rivals and one great weakness – a passionately driven woman whom he cannot deny.
Parkes and MacDonald serve as executive producers. Cross will write and also executive-produce the series. Ted Gold (“Three Rivers”) also is an executive producer. The series will be produced by Parkes/MacDonald Productions; Georgeville Television (GVTV), Reliance Entertainment/Motion Picture Capital’s new TV Studio; and Universal Television.
